“As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.” (Ecclesiastes 11:5)
Why do we hear so much about nuclear power in media today? Well, for starters the technology behind nuclear power is intricate and often misunderstood. We hear discussions and debates on topics such as nuclear accidents, waste disposal, and the potential for nuclear proliferation. All adding to the complexity and controversy surrounding nuclear power, making it a frequent subject of media coverage. Furthermore, nuclear power involves high-stakes elements such as safety concerns, environmental impacts, and geopolitical implications. Any developments or incidents related to nuclear power tend to receive substantial media attention due to their potential consequences. So while all these topics are intriguing, I’m going to make a claim; very few people actually understand all the complexities of generating nuclear power. But interestingly enough, I’m also going to claim that no one thinks about it (or worries about it) when they turn on a light switch. In fact there are a lot of things that fall into this category. We do not need to understand the physics behind flying- we book a ticket and get on a plane. We do not need to know about Maxwell equations and the propagation of radio frequencies to send a text on our cell phones either. We simply take it on faith that they work. Today’s verse highlights a very simple truth; we have no idea how God conducts the business of being God. His ways are His alone, and we have no insight into it. We don’t know how God created the universe, we just know He did. This section of Ecclesiastes basically says we don’t know what we don’t know and that’s okay. Today know this, God has it under control, his word gives hope and life. Let us put our faith in Him by living lives that point others to Him daily.
