Our Core Values

"California EC Church is: Bible-Based, Authentic, Relational, Compassionate, and Mission-Minded."

What is a Core Value?

A Core Value answers the question: "Who?". If we want to accomplish our Vision Statement of "Cultivating a Community for Christ", then we must remain true to who we believe God has called us to be. So, we will: "Cultivate a Community for Christ" while being "Bible-Based, Authentic, Relational, Compassionate, and Mission-Minded".

What This Means

If we are going be "Bible-Based, Authentic, Relational, Compassionate, and Mission-Minded", then we must go about being those things in the same way that Jesus was. Our best explanation for what this looks like is to use as our example Jesus' own life and ministry:

Bible-Based

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

Authentic

“Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” John 8:10-11 (NIV)

Relational

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:12-13 (NIV)

Compassionate

"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." Matthew 9:35-36 (NIV)

Mission-Minded

"Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)
