“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chronicles 29:11)
Worship, praise and giving our gratitude are all free. While I believe this to be true, what is the meaning for stating it? As Christians, we know that it is our faith in Jesus that saves us. But we also know that this saving faith should be reflected by our words and actions. My point for reiterating these truths is that putting our faith in action will often have a cost. It takes effort on our part to maintain a holy lifestyle. It can be hard work battling your sins and making the constant strives toward a more God honoring decision. Or biting your tongue after being on the receiving end of an insult. There may even be times when our faith in Christ Jesus will make us an outcast. But one thing that is also equally as true is that worshiping God (even if it’s just in your mind) is free. There is absolutely no cost to any of us to intentionally stop what we are doing (for a moment) and recite a scripture passage like today’s that gives all the honor, glory and authority to God. To make a purposeful statement that God is King and ruler over all. All that we see and have, all that we are comes from God. And any brightness seen, when looking to the future, comes from the promise of our Lord and Savior’s return. As our Lord “is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth.” God already rules over all creation, because it is His. Today, let us show God our knowledge of this fact by freely worshiping Him and recognizing that God is the true exalted King over us all.
