“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
My wife has a special love for eagles, so whenever we see a large bird in the distance we usually do stop (or at least slow down if we’re driving) to see if it is in fact an eagle. More recently we have been seeing one flying around close to our house which has caught the eyes of a number of people in our area. And rightfully so, watching an eagle fly is a very impressive sight indeed. Maybe it’s the deep red, white, and blue American in me, but when you watch an eagle flying it just commands respect. And I assume that this is also what the prophet Isaiah noticed too. “This verse…reminds the reader that the strongest of men may stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord have a strength that this world cannot offer. When we see an eagle in flight, soaring on invisible air currents, we can be reminded that the Creator who supplies the eagle’s strength will also strengthen those who call upon His name” (https://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-eagle.html )
How incredible it would be to soar like the eagle. Experiencing the complete freedom of flight with a commanding presence. How incredible it would be to run (or work) and not grow weary. And how incredible it would be to walk in the hottest of days and not be faint. As unfathomable as these things might seem, Isaiah provides us with a truth in that these “how incredible” dreams are actually a reality for those who place their faith and hope in our Lord God and Savior. The promise issued from this beloved prophet is that the “Lord will renew [our] strength.” So today take a hold of this promise, commit yourselves to Christ Jesus, and be renewed by God’s love. Happy Monday all!
