“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High” (Psalm 92:1)
Last night we were at the new building dedication at Conestoga Christian School (CCS) in Morgantown. But in true CCS fashion, it wasn’t your typical dedication ceremony where the school board patted themselves on the back through various speeches. Instead, the faculty of CCS created an entirely God centered prayer and worship night. The ceremony opened with prayer and a few statements regarding the usage of the new space. Thanking our Heavenly Father for each new opportunity the space will provide. Then immediately entered into a full-on worship ceremony. They had faculty, family, and even former students perform live worship songs. And the only intermission to singing God’s praises, was to invite different speakers to pray over faculty, parents, students, and all that God has done for this school. As is typically the case, I went there to simply take part in a school run activity and left with an overwhelming sense of enrichment through the Holy Spirit. With the powerful message of song; roughly 60 or more parents, teachers, and kids singing their hearts out; and passionate prayers geared towards elevating God in our lives; I scanned the room to see young and old lifting their hands in the air. I heard lots of “Amen” and “Yes, Lord Jesus” being called out. And then a teacher prayed the verse “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” – Matthew 18:20. Adding, “And here we are Lord, and we know You are here with us!” It was at that moment that I was literally brought to tears. As if God Himself, had just stripped all the burdens of this world away. Assuring me of His presence through the feeling of complete calmness. Summing up the night, all I can say is this: we are to worship our Lord. And when we do, God notices. And sometimes He even lets you know it.
