“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chronicles 29:11)
There can be many ways to approach our Heavenly Father in prayer, but they should all start with worship and praise. Sometimes that can be difficult, especially when we are in the thick of it. And at other times we may be struck by how small we are compared to the greatness of our God, thinking, “how can our words ever describe Him?” This was best said by Isaac Wimberley in his monologue: https://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=0E0BECNU
“If there are words for Him, Then, I don’t have them. You see my brain has not yet reached the point, where it could form a thought that could adequately describe the greatness of my God. And my lungs – have not yet developed the ability to release a breath with enough agility to breathe out the greatness of His love. And my voice – You see my voice is so inhibited restrained by human limits. That it’s hard to even send the praise up – You see – if there are words for Him, Then, I don’t have them…But what I DO HAVE is: GOOD NEWS. For my God knew that man-made words would never do. The words are just tools – that we use to point to the Truth, So He sent His Son Jesus Christ as – THE Word” – Kari Jobe Spoken Word by Isaac Wimberley
The full monologue is spectacular. I shared the link above, it will be the best 5 minutes of your day! All the above to say, yes sometimes it can be hard to find what seems to be appropriate words to lift up our praises and worship the almighty living God. And this is where today’s verse shines. When in doubt, use scripture. Next time you want to praise God, think 1 Chronicles 29:11.
