“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28)
The idea of unity and belonging is something that many people search a lifetime for – we as Christians have it already. How incredible is it that God created us all uniquely and yet faith in Christ Jesus is the only thing that defines us. Through belief in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, and true repentance of our sins, we are all cleansed white as snow. We had no credibility on our own to stand before God, the maker of all things. But through Jesus, and Jesus alone, we have been gifted the keys into His kingdom. And as today’s verse confirms, it has nothing to do with our status in the world or the church; nothing to do with our wealth or poverty; it doesn’t matter if we lived our entire lives with faith or found Jesus yesterday; we have all been clothed in righteous through Jesus. As individuals, we can take no responsibility or credit for it, we did the sin, and by faith and repentance our sins have been forgiven. Jesus is the singular defining characteristic of Christianity. And through Him, we have all been offered an equivalent gift of salvation. So today, remember that your faith has given you access to the most important group ever established across any age in history. We are Christians, those who have been saved by faith in God – our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
