“Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come…” (Daniel 2:27-28)
As was mentioned in a previous nugget, Daniel represents a basis for 7pm com prehend living through the torturous flames of a furnace. But before any of these big moments of faith in Daniel’s life, we have what was recorded in today’s nugget. A dialogue between Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and Daniel, a Jewish exile living in captivity within Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar was extremely bothered by a dream he had, and desperately wanted to understand its meaning. As the verse reads, none of the king’s men could interpret the dream. But here in verse 28, Daniel tells the king, what is in my mind, the most important point to pull from this nugget. Daniel rightfully gave the credit to God. How easy would it have been for Daniel to steel God’s glory and say “Yes sir, I can do this for you. I’m your guy.”
But Daniel remained consistently humble, and clearly stated that it was God who can unravel this mystery for the king. How often do we take for granted the power and glory of God in Heaven, by saying “I can do that for you.” While it’s true that God has blessed us each with unique gifts. And it’s equally true that we should use our God given gifts for His purpose. We do need to remember that using these gifts should always give the glory back to Him.
