“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” (Micah 5:2)
Today’s verse is one of the many Old Testament prophecies fulfilled by our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Written approximately 700 years before Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, the prophet Mica foretold the events that God had disclosed. Making it even more clear that the good news of the gospel, the path to salvation through Jesus on the cross, was not an afterthought. God had a plan, and although it was not a part of our original design, God new that the fall of mankind to sin would need a redemption plan. God’s plan for His Son was known in the beginning for God is timeless and didn’t need to wait for sin to overcome Adam and Eve in the garden. Likewise, God also knows the results of our lives as well. Not because He has forced it one way or another, but because He can see tomorrow as easily as we can remember yesterday. So, God has a plan for each of us too. He has given us all the gifts we need to put His design for us into motion. There is only one thing that stands in our way – and it is us. Pastor Tanner ended this past week’s sermon with a huge question. One that I personally still wrestle with every day. The question was, “What is God’s will for your life?” God had a plan to save all humanity through His Son Jesus, equally He has a plan for each of us too. A plan that He has woven into our fabric of existence. A calling for us to discern and chase after. Hopefully we all know Christ Jesus as our Redeemer and the only way to the Father. So today, the big question remains; what are you going to do with this truth?
