“This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it – the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” (Jeremiah 33:2-3)
Not too long ago one of my kids was having a very difficult time with math class, and unfortunately never reached out for any help. I remember being very sarcastic at the time, saying “if there was only someone available that could have helped you in this area.” And for those who don’t really know me, first I have to admit that sarcasm is my goto when I’m aggravated. But secondly, I do have a knack for math and science and worked in these fields for many years. So my frustration was well realized when I learned of my own child having issues in math. I just didn’t understand why they would decide to struggle through a subject when someone who lived in the same house could help. Never mind the fact that this person was a parent and would gladly provide any help that was asked for. Now it turns out that they ended the class well, but I never got over the idea that there had to be a reason why they just didn’t come to me for help. Especially knowing that I had more than enough background and experience to do so. I guess I haven’t thought about this for quite some time but reading this verse from biblegateway made a connection for me. This is exactly how God feels when we don’t come to Him. His knowledge exceeds anything we can comprehend. And yet, (at least for myself) when there are things troubling me I sit and stare off into nothingness “hoping” for a solution to pop out. While the entire time God stares back at me saying “I’m here, I can help, just ask.” Today, take your questions to the one who can answer them – God!
